Today's referee Daniel Siebert is not known for his authoritative approach, dishing out four yellows per game in Bundesliga action this year, and showing only one red card through 14 matches in the German top flight. His last Europa League match officiated, a March affair between Manchester United and Real Betis, saw only two cards handed out, and he's gone under this 4.5 total in each of his last eight matches officiated across all competitions.

Juventus have collected the third-least cautions in Serie A play, and while Sevilla have pulled 101 yellows in La Liga action this season, second-most in the league, their foul count is actually 13th in the league, suggesting they've been a bit hard done by.

That's proven by their Europa League numbers, where Sevilla collect 2.67 cards per match, down from 3.06 in league play. 4.5 cards is a pretty high bar to clear, so at plus odds, this is good value.

This is a risky play, given Sevilla will look to keep a lid on the match and Italian teams are known for their cagey approach to European play. Still, there's every reason to believe both teams can find the back of the net, and with the value skewed in this direction while expecting a low-scoring match, it affords an opportunity to pounce.

Prior to their 2-0 victory over Atalanta last time out over the weekend, Juventus had gone six straight matches without a clean sheet across all competitions, conceding to Lecce, Bologna, Sassuolo, and Napoli in league play plus Inter and Sporting CP in other Cup competitions. The usual Juventus defensive solidity has been fragile of late.

Sevilla, meanwhile, have turned things around in league play thanks to a more prolific attack. Outside of a goose egg against Girona at home, Sevilla in recent matches have scored seven combined goals against relegation candidates Espanyol, Valencia, and Cadiz and found a way past top-half side Athletic Club as well. Add in that they scored five on Manchester United across two legs, and there's every reason to think they can

score in Turin too.

Juventus hope to keep their continental adventure alive against European specialists Sevilla in the first leg of their Europa League semifinal matchup in Turin on Thursday.

The Italian club, for now, saw their top four status restored in the Italian top flight, but know the best way to ensure they will have Champions League football next season would be to lift the Europa League trophy.

Sevilla, meanwhile, spent much of the season battling relegation in La Liga, but they've pulled themselves out of the muck, rising to 11th in the table on the backs of four wins in their last five matches. They're known as European experts, winning this very competition in three of the last six seasons.

With nine Europa League titles between these two clubs, there's plenty of continental pedigree to go around and experience on the pitch. It's a match of old nobility against new success, with all three of Juventus's titles in this competition coming prior to the turn of the millenium, while all six of Sevilla's crowns have come since.

Juventus vs Sevilla prediction, odds

Moneyline lean: Draw (+250)

Score prediction: Juventus 1-1 Sevilla

Sevilla are a tough team to figure out right now. They've been poor for most of the season, especially on the road, but have turned things around recently in league play, so it's hard to know if that will translate to European success.

Case in point: Sevilla have yet to win on the road in European action this season, drawing three and losing three across Champions League and Europa League play. They've done all their damage at home, where they've beaten PSV, Fenerbahce, and Manchester United to advance through the Europa League knockout stage. Yet in league action, they've won their last three on the road, beating Cadiz, Valencia, and Athletic Club.

Which Sevilla will show up on the road against a very good defensive Juventus side? Hard to say, so we'll split the difference by leaning draw, knowing the final result probably isn't the way to play this matcas.
